The Port of Hueneme is one of the most active ports on the west coast for the import and export of automobiles and other rolling stock. The Port has dedicated itself to this important market niche and has attracted well-known manufacturers such as BMW, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Maserati, Mini-Cooper, Mitsubishi, Rolls Royce, Saab, Suzuki, and Volvo to this customized Ro-Ro facility.

Currently the Port has many acres of on-dock auto terminal area serving Scandinavian, European, and Asian automobile carriers such as NYK, K-Line, Mitsui OSK Line, and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, with three major vehicle preparation and distribution facilities (BMW, Pacific Vehicle Processors & Global Auto Processing Services or GAPS) within 1.5 miles of the waterfront. Additionally, the addition of the South Terminal aka Sunkist site terminal enhances the Ro-Ro acreage available within the seaport.

Cargo handling productivity and attention to the auto and Ro-Ro trade are the main reasons that the Port of Hueneme has continued to grow in this market.

The labor force, stevedores and port management are uniquely experienced in the operational aspects of the automobile trade and work closely with both manufacturers and shipping lines to ensure that handling, with zero damage, are the standard for the Port of Hueneme.
