Unique Cargo? No Problem!

The Port of Hueneme is uniquely positioned as the only deep-water seaport between Los Angeles and San Francisco and is recognized as one of the most efficient and effective trade gateways on the West Coast. Globally, Hueneme’s prime geographic location provides shorter sailing times, quicker access to berths, and uncongested connection to California’s automotive epicenters and agriculture heartland. Dockside, the port offers over 12 miles of Class III short-line railroad, with 4 spurs, which connects to the Union Pacific Railroad and plays a significant role in the transportation of freight and goods throughout the country.

In addition to our fresh produce and ro-ro auto businesses, the Port also accommodates a variety of unique project cargoes including construction; mining and agricultural equipment; pressure vessels; reactors and autoclaves; oversized pipes; tanks; valves and fittings; industrial machinery and transformers.

Strong freight activity growth was seen in the Port’s high and heavy cargo. Recent general cargo the Port handled includes:

  • World’s largest ring crane, wind blades, power generators, 300+ ton pieces
  • High & heavy/heavy-lift/lo-lo cargos, construction, mining and agricultural equipment; pressure vessels, reactors and autoclaves
  • Oversized pipes, tanks, valves and fittings; industrial machinery and transformers

Our flexible attitude, convenient location, and specialized focus have made the Port one of the most productive and efficient international trade gateways on the Pacific Coast. Uncongested waterways and terminal gates, docks and transportation corridors result in quick turnaround times and speed to market. In addition, to a highly productive labor force that is focused on unique customer requirements and cargo throughput.
