A Greater Depth of Innovation

FATHOMWERX is a technology-based collaborative that includes the EDC, Matterlabs, NAVSEA, NAVFAC and the Port of Hueneme. Serving as a public-private laboratory, community, and resource for technological innovation, the partners strive to fuse small and non-traditional companies, academic institutions, and other Department of Defense stakeholders together to work on the most challenging problems in military, port, and maritime domains.

In 2019, the Port announced a partnership with Economic Development Collaborative, Matter Labs, and Naval Base Ventura County/NAVSEA to bring together a network of leading academic, research, test & evaluation, and in-service engineering centers to further expand the nation’s ability to provide solutions to relevant challenges in the maritime domain.

By leveraging the unique geographic, operational and environmental assets located at the Port of Hueneme, Fathomwerx invites entrepreneurs with an optimized solution a surrounding for sustained research, experimentation and test programs. 

The Port of Hueneme Provides a lab space for FATHOMWERX to live, offering 20,000 square feet dedicated to testing, prototyping, and innovation, with another 40,000 square feet of flex space for demonstrations, events, and exercises. ​As a Board member and engaged partner, the Port helps steer the lab’s mission to provide opportunities for local entrepreneurs to incubate cutting-edge technology for the Navy, maritime domain, and other industry sectors.

Tech Bridge Ventura

Harnessing the power of partnership, Department of Navy’s workforce “super-connector” NavalX announced an expansion of its Tech Bridge initiative to Ventura County. Joining other Tech Bridge locations around the nation, the Ventura location is housed at the Port of Hueneme.
