Green Project 34

Green Port Development

A Legacy of Green, Sustainable, Job Creating Projects

Committed to Community (graphic)

Project Overview

Building on its legacy as Greenest US Port, the Port of Hueneme is looking to make this project possible in order to grow local jobs, and its financial viability so it can continue to invest funds in environmental initiatives and programs that benefit us all. The Port has filed a Special Use Permit (SUP) with the City of Oxnard to operate a temporary vehicle storage lot for 3 years with an optional 2-year extension. The site is strategically located along the Port’s designated primary corridor from the Port to the 101 — Hueneme Road. The location of the 34 acres is private land and zoned appropriately as light industrial; it will service as a relief valve for auto cargo, and will consolidate cars from other parts of the County. As our valued community and stakeholders, it is important to us that we provide answers to your questions.

Hear from the People Whose Lives are Changed by the Cargo Moving Through the Port:

As part of our open, responsible, and transparent permit application process for the 34 Acres Temporary Outdoor Vehicle Lot, we are happy to notify you that the Draft EIR has been made available by the City of Oxnard for your review. State law requires a 45-day public review period, and going above and beyond, a 61-day comment period is available to ensure that all voices are heard during this temporary project.

Throughout this project your Port has engaged in a community wide listening campaign not only on this project but also on other community specific needs such as food insecurity, air quality monitoring, on the ground community surveys and covid-19 testing and vaccination efforts. Your Port continues its commitment to the community and to continuing to create economic opportunities while pursuing full decarbonization and environmental sustainability and equity.
